Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only superstar to have moved from the country to mainstream and become an international icon of pop culture. Swift left country music like it was another layer, showing that she is perhaps the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. Someone who is able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal, and perform in the opposite. Swift's early hits, especially their neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. But her 2008 album Fearless revealed a songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and finding a large audience. The album was a huge success, not just on American soil, with six platinum-certified songs. Its Top Ten songs Love Story and You Belong with Me were the primary reasons behind this. It also performed well all over the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this success and moved Swift into the stratosphere of stardom. Her popularity only increased with her following three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) as well as Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 and found her moving assuredly into the realm of pop that she had already been a part of. She stayed on top of the charts even when she dropped her own style on her sister albums, folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
